viaaq mobile - Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 03.10.2026
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
1.1 These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the connectivity service offered at https://mobile.viaaq.eu, including the customer portal at https://mobile.viaaq.eu/dashboard (together, the "Service").
1.2 The Service is provided by Ravi-On Solutions, registered in FINLAND under number 3636996-9, VAT no. FI3636996-9, address Vetokuja 4, 01610 Vantaa, Finland ("viaaq mobile", "we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].
1.3 By creating a portal account, activating a SIM or otherwise using the Service, you ("Customer", "you") agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Definitions
- Connectivity provider: A company, that in partnership with us, provides connectivity and telecommunications solutions.
- SIM: viaaq mobile physical SIM card or eSIM profile supplied by us, or by our connectivity provider on behalf of us.
- TCU: the telematics control unit of a vehicle in which the SIM is used.
- Partner: a reseller or installer authorized by viaaq mobile and listed under "Partners" on https://mobile.viaaq.eu.
- Plan: a connectivity plan offered on our website, with its own data allowance and price.
- Network Partners: the mobile network operators and IoT connectivity providers through which we deliver the Service.
- Connectivity solution: third-party solution, for example OpenCARWINGS, open-source telematics project with which one of our Services is designed to work.
3. The Service
3.1 viaaq provides data-only IoT connectivity intended for vehicle telematics units, including the delivery of the wake-up SMS messages that certain legacy TCUs require. The Service is offered through our Network Partners.
3.2 The Service is not a general consumer mobile plan. It is intended solely for use in a TCU for light telematics traffic (for example battery status, remote climate control and send-to-car navigation). It is not intended for streaming, browsing, file sharing, tethering, VoIP or other high-volume use.
3.3 We provision SIMs to work with supported connectivity solutions. The connection is not restricted to a particular server, so you may point your TCU at a self-hosted connectivity solution instance. Setting up, hosting and maintaining any server software is your responsibility.
3.4 Compatibility. Telematics units differ in model, age and firmware. We describe supported use on our website but cannot guarantee that the Service will work with every vehicle or TCU. Compatibility is determined by your hardware, firmware, configuration and server software, none of which we control.
3.5 Coverage. The Service is available as listed on our website. Coverage, speed and availability depend on Network Partners, location, weather, terrain, your vehicle's antenna and other factors outside our control. Roaming is subject to Section 7.
3.6 No emergency or safety use. The Service carries data only. It does not provide voice calls, and it is not an emergency call (eCall) service. Do not rely on the Service for safety-critical, emergency or life-supporting functions. Features such as remote climate control and charge status are convenience functions only and you remain responsible for your vehicle at all times.
4. Ordering, SIMs and eligibility
4.1 You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your country) and have legal capacity to enter into a contract. If you use the Service for a business, you confirm you are authorized to bind that business.
4.2 You may order a SIM through our website or through a Partner. Delivery times are estimates only.
4.3 You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.
4.5 A SIM is only usable while it is linked to an active subscription. When a subscription ends, or is terminated by us or your own will, the SIM is deactivated and does not belong to any account until a new subscription is started for it.
4.4 We may refuse or cancel an order, or refuse to activate a SIM, for reasons including suspected fraud, abuse, incorrect information, or inability to provide the Service at your location.
5. Your account and the portal
5.1 You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of suspected unauthorized access.
5.2 The portal lets you view connection status and data usage, pause or cancel a SIM, top up your balance or manage billing. Usage figures shown in the portal are informational and may be delayed or differ slightly from the network's final records. Our records are authoritative unless you show them to be wrong.
6. Plans, prices, balance and payment
6.1 Current Plans and prices are shown on https://mobile.viaaq.eu. Prices for consumers may include VAT (Value Added Tax).
6.2 No fixed contract. Plans are charged monthly with no minimum term. You pay for the months in which the SIM is active.
6.3 Recurring billing. The Service works by automatic billing, which is monthly or annual. Monthly or annual charges are deducted from your payment method. If payment does not succeed, the SIM may be suspended or disabled until unpaid invoices are paid (see Section 10). Payments are processed by Stripe.
6.4 Data allowance. The data allowance renews on first day of the month and unused data does not roll over. If you reach your allowance, the connection is temporarily suspended. Because telematics traffic is light, a normally functioning TCU should not reach the allowance. Unexpectedly high usage may indicate a misconfiguration, which is your responsibility to correct.
6.5 Pausing. You can pause a SIM in the portal. Billing is paused immediately and your payment will not be charged, unless you resume billing again in the portal.
6.6 Price changes. We may change prices or Plans. We will give you at least 30 days' notice by e-mail or other means. If you do not accept the change, you may cancel before it takes effect without penalty. Changes required by tax or law may apply immediately.
6.7 Invoices and taxes. Invoices or receipts are available in the portal or by e-mail. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to you, other than those we are required to collect.
6.8 Payments from Partners. If you buy a SIM or installation from a Partner, the Partner's own terms apply to the Partner's goods and services. Charges for the Service itself are governed by these Terms.
7. Roaming and coverage
7.1 The Service includes roaming on participating networks of our Network Partners, so that the SIM can keep working when your vehicle travels between countries. Any restrictions on roaming shall be mentioned in plan's information.
7.2 Your vehicle may be registered, bought or based in any country. We do not require a "home country". The Service is, however, designed and priced for use in the countries and/or continent listed on https://mobile.viaaq.eu or in your plan's details. Outside those countries and/or continents, connectivity is not guaranteed and may be unavailable, limited or blocked by the Network Partners.
7.3 The Service is intended for ordinary vehicle use. We may apply reasonable fair use controls, or restrict or suspend a SIM, if the way it is used places an unusual burden on roaming networks or if our Network Partners require us to do so. Examples are a SIM that is used for malicious purposes, illegal activities, or use that is inconsistent with a vehicle's normal telematics traffic. Where practicable, we will notify you before taking such action and give you a chance to correct the situation.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to, and not to allow anyone else to:
a) use the Service for bulk data transfer, tethering, VoIP, SMS/MMS spam, or any use that places abnormal load on the network;
b) send unsolicited or unlawful messages, or use the Service for fraud, hacking, denial-of-service attacks, scanning, or any other illegal or abusive activity;
c) interfere with the security or operation of the Service, the portal or any network, or attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours;
d) tamper with, clone, unlock or reverse-engineer a SIM, or attempt to circumvent usage limits, restrictions or billing;
e) use the Service in violation of any applicable law, including export, sanctions and telecommunications laws.
9. No resale, white-labelling or unauthorized access
9.1 Reselling is prohibited without authorization. You may not resell, sublicense, rent, lease, share for payment, bundle, redistribute or otherwise commercially provide the Service, any SIM or any access to the Service to a third party, whether for profit or not, unless you have been authorized by viaaq in writing and/or are listed as a Partner on https://mobile.viaaq.eu.
9.2 Only the persons and businesses listed as "Partners" on https://mobile.viaaq.eu at the relevant time are authorized resellers. If a business or individual is not listed there, they are not authorized to sell or distribute the Service, regardless of any claims they make. You can verify a seller's status by checking the website or by contacting us at [email protected].
9.3 This prohibition includes, without limitation: buying SIMs or top-ups in order to resell them; offering the Service as part of your own product, subscription, installation package or "connected car" service without our authorization; and advertising or listing SIMs for sale on marketplaces or elsewhere. It does not prevent you from using the SIM in your own vehicle, or from leaving the SIM in the vehicle when you sell or give it away, provided that you end your subscription and the new owner starts their own subscription under Section 18.4. You may not charge for the Service, or for access to the SIM's connectivity, as part of the sale.
9.4 Installation services are allowed. A workshop, installer or other business may install a SIM in a customer's vehicle as a service and may charge for its own labour and parts, provided that:
- a) the connectivity is provided to the end customer by viaaq mobile under these Terms, and the customer holds, or is given, their own account;
- b) the installer clearly states to the customer, in advertising, quotes, invoices and in person, that the connectivity service is provided by viaaq mobile;
- c) the installer does not present, brand, bill or describe the connectivity as its own service, and does not remove, hide or replace viaaq mobile's name; and
- d) the installer does not collect payment for the connectivity itself, or resell SIMs, balance or top-ups, unless it is a listed Partner.
9.5 No use of our portal or infrastructure without permission. You may not use, access or interfere with the viaaq mobile portal, APIs, servers, SMS or messaging systems, provisioning systems, or any other part of our infrastructure or that of our Network Partners, except (i) as a customer using the portal for your own SIMs in the way we make available, or (ii) as permitted under Section 9.6. Without our prior written permission, and subject to Section 9.6, you may not in particular:
- a) access the portal or systems on behalf of other customers or third parties as a business or service;
- b) use automated means (such as bots, scrapers or scripts) to access the portal or our systems;
- c) build a service on top of, or connect your own platform or product to, our portal, APIs or infrastructure;
- d) manage, provision or control SIMs that are not your own; or
- e) copy, frame, mirror or otherwise present our portal or systems as your own.
9.6 Included access under certain plans. Some Plans include limited access to specific functions that use our infrastructure, such as SMS wake-up, status information and similar functionality, crucial to telematics functions. Where your Plan includes such access, as described on https://mobile.viaaq.eu or in the Plan details, you may use those functions, including by integrating them with your own systems, subject to the following:
- a) you may use them only for the SIMs on your own account and for your own use, not to provide services to third parties, and Section 9.1 still applies;
- b) you must stay within the functions, rate limits, quotas and technical documentation we specify for your Plan, and must not circumvent them;
- c) you must keep any access credentials or API keys confidential, and you are responsible for all activity under them;
- d) you may not present the functions as your own infrastructure or hide that viaaq mobile provides the connectivity (see Section 9.4(b) and (c));
- e) we may change, limit or withdraw these functions, rate limits or technical documentation, and may suspend access that harms the stability or security of our systems or those of our Network Partners, with notice where practicable; and
- f) the Acceptable Use rules in Section 8 and any additional API or technical terms we publish also apply.
Access beyond what your Plan includes is subject to our prior written permission under Section 9.5.
9.7 If you breach this Section 9, we may, in addition to our other remedies, immediately suspend or terminate the affected SIMs, accounts and access without refund (to the extent permitted by law), refuse future orders, claim compensation for loss suffered, and require you to stop the infringing activity.
9.8 If you are interested in becoming a Partner, or in obtaining permission for integration or other use of our portal or infrastructure beyond what your Plan includes, contact us at [email protected]. Partners and approved integrators operate under a separate written agreement, which takes precedence over this Section for their authorized activities.
10. Suspension and termination
10.1 By you. You may pause or cancel a SIM at any time in the portal. Cancellation takes effect immediately.
10.2 By us. We may suspend or terminate the Service, a SIM or your account, with immediate effect and without prior notice where necessary, if: (a) you breach these Terms, including Sections 8 or 9; (b) payment fails or your balance is insufficient; (c) we suspect fraud, abuse or security risk; (d) required by law, a court or authority, or by a Network Partner.
10.3 We may also terminate the Service for convenience with at least 30 days' notice. In that case we will refund any unused balance and/or payment that you are entitled to under Section 6.3.
10.4 On termination, your right to use the SIM ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including Sections 9, 12, 13, 14 and 15) will survive.
11. Right of withdrawal (EU consumers)
11.1 If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you have the right to withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 days of the contract being concluded (or, for physical SIMs, of receiving them) without giving any reason, to the extent required by applicable law.
11.2 If you ask us to begin providing the Service (for example by activating the SIM) during the withdrawal period, you must pay a proportionate amount for the Service provided up to the time you inform us of your withdrawal. Where the Service has been fully performed and you gave prior express consent and acknowledged losing your withdrawal right, you may no longer withdraw.
11.3 To withdraw, send a clear statement to [email protected].
12. Availability, warranties and disclaimers
12.1 We provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. We aim for high availability, but the Service depends on third-party networks and infrastructure, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free or secure operation, or any particular speed, latency or coverage.
12.2 We may carry out maintenance, upgrades and changes that temporarily affect the Service. We will try to give notice of planned maintenance where practicable.
12.3 Third-party software and hardware. Connectivity solutions and other server software, TCUs, vehicles and the vehicle manufacturer's systems are provided by third parties. viaaq is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or responsible for them, nor for the compatibility, security, availability, legality or consequences of using them. Vehicle manufacturers may change, restrict or discontinue their own systems, and using the Service with a TCU is at your own risk. Check your vehicle warranty and applicable laws before modifying or reconfiguring a TCU. All product and brand names (including vehicle and manufacturer names) belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility.
12.4 Except as stated in these Terms or required by mandatory law, we disclaim all other warranties, express or implied. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
13. Limitation of liability
13.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or intentional or grossly negligent misconduct.
13.2 Subject to Section 13.1, we are not liable for: (a) indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, business, data or goodwill; (b) damage to a vehicle, TCU or battery, or any loss arising from remote commands sent, delayed, not delivered or executed incorrectly through the Service; (c) interruptions or defects caused by Network Partners, force majeure, your equipment or software, or your breach of these Terms.
13.3 Subject to Section 13.1, our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in that period and EUR 80.
13.4 If you are a business customer, you will indemnify us against claims and losses arising from your breach of Sections 8 or 9 or from your unlawful use of the Service.
14. Privacy and data protection
14.1 We process personal data to provide the Service, including account details, contact details, SIM identifiers (such as ICCID and IMSI), network and usage metadata (such as connection status, data volume and SMS delivery records). We do not store or process payment information. We process data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and our Privacy Policy at https://mobile.viaaq.eu/static/privacypolicy.html, which forms part of these Terms.
14.2 We provide connectivity only. We do not control or access the content of the data your TCU exchanges with your chosen server (connectivity solution such as OpenCARWINGS), and we are not responsible for how that server operator processes your data. If you use a third-party server, you should review its privacy practices.
14.3 We share data with Network Partners, payment providers, hosting providers and other processors where needed to provide the Service, and with authorities where legally required. We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy and as required by law (for example accounting and telecommunications retention rules).
15. Intellectual property
The Service, the website, the portal, and all related software, content, trademarks and logos (including "viaaq mobile") are owned by us or our licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the portal and the SIM for your own use in accordance with these Terms. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the Service, law or our Network Partners. We will notify you of material changes at least 30 days in advance by e-mail or other means. If you do not agree, you may cancel before the changes take effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Notices and support
17.1 Support is available at [email protected]. Usual response time is within 2 business days.
17.2 We may send notices to the e-mail address on your account or through the portal. You must keep your contact details current. Notices to us must be sent to [email protected].
18. General
18.1 Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and any Plan details shown at purchase are the entire agreement between you and viaaq about the Service.
18.2 Severability. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and the provision will be replaced by a valid one closest to its purpose.
18.3 No waiver. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it.
18.4 Assignment and change of vehicle owner. You may not assign or transfer your account or your rights or obligations under these Terms to another person. This does not restrict a change of vehicle owner. You may end your subscription in the portal at any time, and the new owner of the vehicle may start their own subscription for the SIM at any time, without our consent. Ending a subscription ends the Service for that account, and a new subscription is a separate agreement between us and the new owner on these Terms. Any prepaid balance remaining on the former owner's account is handled under Section 6.3 and does not pass to the new owner. We may assign these Terms to an affiliate or successor to our business, and will notify you if we do.
18.5 Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including network outages, power or telecoms failure, cyberattacks, natural events, war, or acts of government.
18.6 Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live. For business customers, the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) does not apply.
18.7 Disputes. Please contact us first at [email protected] so that we can try to resolve any complaint. If we cannot resolve it:
- a) Business customers: disputes will be resolved by the courts of Finland, with the Helsinki District Court as the court of first instance.
- b) Consumers: you may bring proceedings in the courts of Finland or, where mandatory law gives you the right, in the courts of the country where you live.
- c) Out-of-court resolution for consumers: consumers resident in Finland can ask the Finnish Consumer Advisory Service (kuluttajaneuvonta) for guidance and may bring a dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board (Kuluttajariitalautakunta, www.kuluttajariita.fi). Consumers elsewhere in the EU/EEA may use the competent consumer dispute body in their own country. We are willing, but not obliged to take part in such proceedings.
18.8 Language. These Terms are written in English. Translations are not available at the moment.
